French designer Cecile Planchais has designed the Icila Chair. The chair is now available for sales in Outdoorz Gallery.

+ Design statement courtesy of Outdoorz Gallery

Reminiscent of the Japanese art of origami, Icila is made from a single sheet of steel, cut and folded, without welds. The seat is wide (57 cm) and surprisingly supple. In profile the elegant, thin lines again remind us of a simple folded sheet of paper, but the solidity of 8 mm steel is anything but delicate. A chair which lends itself to countless settings from urban center to public park. Icila can be ordered as a movable chair or one that may be fixed to a ground support. Available in white, black and orange, colors inspired from the palette of the artist Alexander Calder as well as natural steel. Icila chair, created for the 10th Biennale of Saint Etienne, France and part of the inauguration of its latest building ‘La Platine’ was recently presented at the Sustainable Luxury Fair at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The Icila Song chair which has programmable sound incorporated is currently under development.
