Curtain Door

Yes, this post is solely about a magnificent door. This door serves as the entrance point into a diamond merchant’s residence in Surat, India. The door is comprised of 40 sections of Burma teak, 160 pulleys, 80 ball bearings, and a wire rope and a counter weight hidden within the single pivot. The sections of Burma teak are laid one above the other. A simple push will result in the door reconfiguring into a curved opening. (More images after the jump!)
