Circa gallery extension, Rosebank, Johannesburg, South Africa by studioMAS architects + urban design

This recently completed free-standing art gallery annex has been designed by South African based practice, studioMAS  architects+urban design.

The building consists of a single flexible gallery space,  storage,  business lounge, offices and patio roof. It is designed to display video installations and large scale sculptures and is  equipped to host art auctions.

The facade of the building is clad in anodised aluminium fins and a green woven material providing natural light to internal spaces while allowing views in and out of the gallery.

The annex holds three floors, interconnected by an external winding perimeter ramp and staircase.

The third floor of the annex consists of an 85m² private lounge which  opens up onto a 20m² deck providing views  overlooking Johannesburg.
